Walter Suhr, a native of Guatemala, graduated Magna Cum Laude with degrees in music and computer science from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. After graduation he formed Mango Punch!
Mango Punch! has become one of the most in-demand latin bands in Texas. Most recently they performed for the inaugural ceremony for major Bill White in Houston and a halftime performance for the Houston Texans.
Within the United States they have performed in several cities including Chicago, Illinois; Bay City, Michigan; Baton Rouge, Louisiana;  and in Texas they’ve played most of the major cities including Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Brownsville, Corpus Christi,  College Station and Galveston.
Walter and Mango Punch! have shared the stage with a number of international artists including: Elvis Crespo, Kumbia Kings, Son by Four, Alvaro Torres and others.
Their TV performances  include shows on the three major American Networks “This Morning Houston” (ABC), a Muscular Dystrophy Telethon  (Channel 2, NBC), and Viva Houston (CBS).  They’ve performed on the two major Spanish Networks: Telemundo’s El Show de SEVCEC, , and  “Houston Ahora” (Univisión).  Mango Punch has also performed for PBS’s  ”The Connection”. Outside of the United States they’ve been featured in shows for the Televisa stations in Guadalajara, Mexico.  The video for their song “Qué me pongo” has received heavy rotation on HTV, MTVs and VH1 in Spanish.
Mango Punch! has recorded 3 CDs and a special Hispanic theme song for the Houston Texans.  Walter has written a number of jingles for radio and TV including “Hay que votar” an ad for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to encourage the Hispanic vote.  As a songwriter, Walter won 1st place in the latin blog-category of the 1998 Billboard Songwriting Contest and was finalist in the 1999 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
Walter was nominated for Male Entrepeneur of the Year in 2002 by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Houston.
In 2004, Walter Suhr & Mango Punch! performed at the pregame show for Superbowl XXXVIII along with Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Aerosmith and Beyoncé.
