Rizpah – Classic Jazz Harp

Rizpah gives the harp a unique and brilliant sound through expression of various musical styles. Her talent has been compared to the great Alice Coltrane, wife of John Coltrane and legendary jazz harpist Dorothy Ashby. Rizpah is embarking on what promises to be a sensational career!

Hailing from Detroit, Harpist Rizpah is taking the sounds of this ancient instrument to new levels. A unique mixture of Jazz, Classical and even techno funk rhythms, Riizpah is on the cutting edge of today's music .

Rizpah is an alumnus of the world renowned school of jazz studies at the University of North Texas where she received her degree in Music Education.  Yet, even as a recent graduate Rizpah’s performance credentials are astounding! She was one o the first harpists to attend the Jamey Abersold Jazz Arts Workshop.

Rizpah was the only harpist to be selected out of 52 states and 15 countries to be a part of the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles, CA.  In 2007 Rizpah was selected as one of 22 artists from an international pool of talent to receive the Betty Carter Jazz Residency at New York’s Kennedy Center.  In 2008 Rizpah performed as a guest artist at the American Harp Society conference and a special guest appearance at the 2008 World Harp Congress in Amsterdam.

We are proud to annouce that on February 10, 2010 Rizpah performed her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
