Rachel & Milo Deering, along with Rex Bozarth, formed The Tumbleweeds in early 2003 to perform acoustic country music. Rachel is the lead singer & rhythm guitarist; Milo plays fiddle, mandolin & Dobro; Rex plays upright bass.
Rachel & Milo are formerly of the original country band, Rachel Goetz &Ghostown who performed at countless engagements in Texas, including the world-renowned South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, opening spots for The Dixie Chicks & Aaron Tippin and dozens of music festivals & club gigs. As a songwriter, Rachel has been named a New Folk Finalist at The Kerrville Music Festival and has been recognized by the Dallas Songwriter’s Association.
As an accomplished session musician, Milo has played on hundreds of commercial jingles including the famous Motel 6 radio spot with Tom Bodett. Milo’s talent can be heard on almost all of LeAnn Rimes’ country albums in addition to diverse artists such as Steve Holy, Trout Fishing in America, Slim Whitman & Jack Ingram. Milo was also a member of Ms. Rimes’ touring band for several years.
Rex is currently the acoustic & electric bassist for the “Broadway at the Bass Hall” series, Casa Manana productions in Fort Worth and The Dallas Summer Musical series. In addition to performing with The Tumbleweeds, Rex also composes & plays with his French swing group Trio Blanc and teaches strings at W.B. Travis Vanguard Academy for the talented & gifted.
Together, these three talented performers blend their voices & instruments to recreate the great old cowboy, swing & bluegrass sounds of yesteryear: Vintage Country Music.
