Named “Best Flamenco Guitarist in DFW” by The Dallas Observer 2012.

Tomás Sclar y Flamenco Nuevo is one of the foremost Nuevo Flamenco/Latin Jazz ensembles in the DFW metroplex. Hailed for its passionate and robust sound, the band is fluent in a host of Latin guitar styles from nouveau flamenco to bossa nova and smooth jazz. A University of North Texas School of Music alumnus, Sclar has played before crowds of 150,000. He has also performed for many local personalities including Dean Fearing, Mark Cuban, Ray Hunt and Ross Perot, and was the featured artist at the wedding of Dallas Star Mike Modano. His formidable talent and mastery of Latin guitar technique garnered him a “Best Latin Artist” nomination by the Dallas Observer and in 2007, Sclar and Flamenco Nuevo opened for legendary jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. Members of the band’s rotating line-up have also toured and recorded with Grammy-winning artists The New Bohemians and gospel singer Kirk Franklin. Tomás y Flamenco Nuevo is a perennial crowd-pleaser at DFW area music festivals, resorts and boutique hotels such as Zaza and The Mansion, and has appeared at the State Fair of Texas since 1999. Its seductive sounds can also be heard at Dallas hot spots including Sambuca, Terilli’s, The Chaparral Club, Avanti Ristorante and The Tower Club.
