Trio Blanc is a musical group consisting of violin, guitar, and upright bass that plays a sweet and spicy blend of old standards, hot swing, bossa nova, ballads, and light classical music. Whether your tastes run to the sultry or the sophisticated, Trio Blanc plays it all with flair. Swing is hot! and so is Trio Blanc. The timeless appeal of tunes like Cheek to Cheek, Laura, and Girl from Ipanema are just what’s needed to set the mood for that dinner party or business function. Besides performing the compositions of Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter, Trio Blanc adds that special something extra with the music of gypsy-jazz guitarist Django Rheinhart.
Fabulously popular in the 20’s through 40’s, Django was a Belgian gypsy who had his left hand severely burned in a caravan fire, but overcame this obstacle to become one of the most accomplished and virtuosic guitarists of all time. Trio Blanc performs many of the compositions of this incredibly talented musician, from the breathlessly swinging Daphne to the sad but sweet ballad Anouman.
