Under the direction of Valerie Vargas and the musical direction of Cirilo Campos, Mariachi Las Alteñas’ performances are in high demand throughout Texas and the rest of the U.S. They have performed at many prestigious events and venues; most notably the famous Mariachi USA Festival at the world renowned Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, CA for three consecutive years where they were given the opportunity to accompany the legendary el Trio Los Panchos and many more. They have also performed at the 16th Annual Mariachi Spectacular in Albuquerque, NM, alongside Mariachi Sol de Mexico at the Viva El Mariachi Festival in San Diego, CA, opened up for Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan at the LULAC National Convention in Little Rock, AR, and at the popular Mexican Fiesta in Milwaukee, WI. Other notable performances have been in Tucson, AZ, Memphis, TN, Chicago, IL, Las Vegas, NV, Kansas City, KS, Kansas City, MO, Hobbs, NM, Oklahoma City, OK, Branson, MO and of course all throughout Texas. They have been featured in several radio and print appearances locally and have been nominated several times for the Premios a la Musica Latina in different regions. In December 2009 Mariachi Las Alteñas was invited to represent San Antonio on Good Morning America in New York City. In 2004 and 2005 Las Alteñas consecutively won first place in Houston, TX for a crowd of over 67,000 fans at the annual Go Tejano Mariachi Invitational where they proudly brought home 1st Place for “Best Mariachi”. In 2010 they returned to compete once more and reclaimed the title for “Best Mariachi”. This year Mariachi Las Alteñas will perform again at the Famous Mariachi USA Festival at the Hollywood Bowl on June 19 and in August will be featured at Ohio’s South of the Border Fest.

In a predominantly male industry, this all female mariachi has made its’ mark. Las Alteñas’ success goes beyond their music; they animate audiences to applaud with joy and emotion. In short, they‘ll steal your heart. They’re young, they’re driven, and with them, every night is ladies night.
