“…Stealing the show are husband and wife duo Sam and Sandra, whose tango act is stupendous. Sam’s attempts to woo Sandra to tango with him at ground level initially fail, so it’s a race up a 20-foot pole to dance a dance that only Olympic athletes should try at home. At one point Sam and Sandra cling to the pole, both their bodies stretched as if a gale wind is blowing them horizontally, striking a pose that is near impossible.”

Leah Garchik, San Francisco Chronicle

“….But the pole dancers were slitheringly sexily sensational. [They] crept up and slid down to tango music, twisting their bodies together like snakes making macrame knots from themselves…adults were panting.”

Alexis Martinet, Kaskade Magazine, Germany
(report on the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, 2005. Translated from French by the author)

“…but Vertical Tango (Chinese Pole) (gold medal and Prix de la Ville de Paris), … is magic as expression, lightness, freedom, achievement. The two partners move on their pole like souls in paradise.”

And:
”….Waooo ! What a tango ! Vertical Tango ! Great, wunderbar, magnifico, sublime. I could have devoted the full report on this emotionally strong moment of the last Festival. It would have deserved it. “
