DJ Nixx has been on the scene since 2008, but she grew up around music her entire life, especially in dance or singing. At age 10, her mother taught her how to use turntables on their old Technics, with, in particular, Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” and Stevie Wonder’s “Songs in the Key of Life” records.
Nixx has been working in the nightlife industry since the age of 18. This has allowed her to take in the music of countless different types of Djs every night and slowly gain influence from them. By the time she started spinning, she had a vision of exactly how she wanted to express herself and her love of music. This expression was to give the crowd what they want, but in a style all her own…Nixx has been known as the DJ to always keep you guessing; She’ll run from Old School to Disco to Hip Hop to Top 40 to House but always find a way to make sense with it, “Growing up, I was always listening to Motown, blues, R&B, funk, disco, soul, hip hop, rock, and everything in between. I love being able to play around with all of these different genres in my sets”, she says.
Not only does Nixx bring a vast musical knowledge to her sets, but she has also done nights with additional talent, including live vocalists, instrumentalists, and dancers. Most recently, she DeeJayed alongside Grammy Award-winning artist Ciara at MGM Liquid Sundays Pool Party. She has also done sets with Celebrity DJ’s Samantha Ronson & Sky Nellor, played nights with guest celebrities Lindsay Lohan, Floyd Mayweather, and even with country artists including Reckless Kelly & Wade Bowen.
Nixx has also rocked exclusive events with Hypnotiq, Fashion Week, Boston Red Sox Charities, Nanette Lepore, Cole Haan, The Citi Performing Arts Center, The Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, The Ritz Carlton, W Hotels, MGM Grand at Foxwoods Casinos, and not to mention countless other nightclubs and private parties. So whether it’s a club or private event, local or international, Nixx has something for every taste…
