Ms. Milagro has invoked a musical style that is sophisticated…Japan, Cuba, Europe, Mexico and Central American HEADLINER Carmen Milagro (Original and Traditional Latin Sounds from the Americas) is centered in the NUEVO buzz in the Latin music scene! And is currently shooting her new music video for MILAGRO (Haci es la Vida), and is recording her new CD due out this summer which will include her latest Mariachi-inspired project to be performed with an ALL-FEMALE Mariachi group!
Something about MILAGRO…
Little did she know in the year 2000 what “miracles” would occur when she took her favorite cousin’s name as her own ~ Carmen “Milagro” the Latina artist with two first names and fearless leader of MILAGRO ~ Hottest Latin Sounds from the Americas…has been quite diligent in creating her musical future and asking the universe to provide exactly what she wants and needs musically…of course a little self-confidence, many connections, a background in marketing and PR has not hurt her in the least.
Says the singer, “The destiny of my band is built on the advice of my dear friend, Theresa Montana. She once told me, as we sat overlooking her rose garden above her vineyard to pursue my dream. You have no choice, you MUST pursue it with perseverance and delight or don’t bother. No matter what anyone else thinks… just look at my son! I’m sure she’s watching over me from above with a glass of wine (or perhaps some Chopin vodka in one hand and slapping her knee with the other) saying all the while “I told you didn’t I?” as she keeps an eye out on that garden she loved so much.”
Milagro is currently the very best version of the band since she left the comforts of a more secure corporate life-style several years ago. It wasn’t always so “lovely and exciting” as she puts it. Lots of different musicians have come and gone and she’s experienced just as many mishaps of promises not honored and betrayals by people (both men & women) whom she trusted.
This version of MILAGRO finally came together last summer when Carmen Milagro, Ray Uribes and Rafael Ramirez welcomed Rich Armstrong with open arms in June and celebrated the arrival of Atma Anur, an old friend of her’s, who joined the group in August 2005. Shortly thereafter, she met Jara Queeto and Atma introduced her to Rolando Morales…the rest as they, is the history we are about to witness.
Feeling as if the real spirit of her band was now being fueled instead of drained, MILAGRO has created a show and a musical style that is sophisticated and warm, yet at times, edgy and sensual. Their performances are extremely pleasing to the musical palate with songs in both Spanish and English, sexy originals and traditional covers that focus on melody and harmony that stir emotions and inspire you to dance or sing.
“I believe this blessing called MILAGRO comes from not only having a band of exceptionally talented musicians with a similar vision, but perhaps more importantly, working with and trusting in these beautiful, handsome human beings. I am fortunate to call them my friends and family. We just take care of each other. All you need to know as an audience about MILAGRO is that they are quite simply THE BEST IN THE WORLD!” says the singer.
This year (2006) MILAGRO plans to kick it into high gear and begin filming at least one of their music videos either in Antigua, Guatemala, Santa Ana, El Salvador or in Guadalajara, Mexico. Plans are in the works to tour Europe and all three of the Americas (this year or the next) and they plan to release the new MILAGRO album by year’s end.
Ever the dreamer and optimist, MILAGRO says at the conclusion of our visit…“You know what would really be killer? The chance to open and tour with Santana! That’d be unbelievable and what a climax!!…just a tad” she says with a you-know-what-eatin’ grin as she walks away to ask a 6-year old how to open up REASON on the mac here at Pyramind Studios.
