A native of Northern Ireland, Don Shannon has over four decades of experience as a Pipe Major and teaching bagpipes. Don is a fulltime professional of bagpiping, playing at weddings, funerals, memorials and corporate and private events. Don is also the Pipe Major of The North Texas Caledonian Pipes and Drums.   Under his leadership, the band performs for audiences at notable venues such as the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and the Morton H Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.

Don has performed for many V.I.P.’s and numerous members of the Royal Family including The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Tony Blair, President George W. Bush and countless other dignitaries.

Since coming to America, Don has also played for Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, Texas Governor George W. Bush and English rocker Rod Stewart. Don has also appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson and performs annually at the nationally televised Byron Nelson Golf Classic.

Don served as Pipe Major of an award winning band, participating in numerous competitions in Northern Ireland, England and Scotland, including the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association World Championships.

Don has appeared on numerous occasions with The Chieftains, Ireland’s premier musical ambassadors.
