Kathleen Myrick, is a Native Canadian, and is an increasingly busy artist.  Currently residing in Jacksonville, Florida, she has regionally performed the roles of Carmen in Carmen, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutti, The Second Lady in Die Zauberflote, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, The Witch in Hansel und Gretel, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Guilietta in Les Contes d’Hoffman, and Flora in La Traviata, as well as over 40 other leading roles.
After completing the young artist program with Virginia Opera in 2000-2001, she was immediately chosen to perform lead roles with their main stage productions for the following season.  In the fall of that year, she performed Mercedes in Carmen (and was the cover for Carmen).  Also, she was the “Somewhere Soloist” in Westside Story, in which the Washington Post acclaimed her as giving “the best vocal performance of the evening.”
Following Virginia Opera, she was signed by a well known New York agent and began her professional career.  Some other notable performances include:  the title role of Carmen with Amato Opera; the title role in the world premier of Mary Shelley by Mira Specktor; a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Hadyn’s Lord Nelson Mass and St. Nicholas Mass; was also personally invited to sing Maddalena from Rigoletto in Cheboksar, Russia at their yearly International Festival; and had the privilege to perform the world premiere of Cinderella by Semour Barab, as the role of Cinderella’s Mother.
In September 2008, she performed  the Verdi Requiem, under the baton of James Levine, with the Metropolitan Opera Chorus.  This was a high tribute to the recent death of Pavaroti.  In October she performed Carmen with the South Mountain Opera Works, in November was the mezzo soloist with the NJ Oratorio Society in the Mozart Missa Bevis in D and the Schubert Mass in Eb, and in December was the mezzo soloist in the First Songs of the Season at Gustavas Adolphus Church in NYC, the mezzo soloist in the Messiah at the Lehman College Winter Concert, and In April the mezzo soloist in the Faure Requiem at Monmouth University’s spring concert as a faculty member.
She received her masters from the University of Tennessee and did her Doctoral work at the University of Illinois.  She has had the privilege to work with such artists as Dan Saunders, John Wustman, Carroll Freeman, Michael Ehrman, Kurt Klipstatter, Mignon Dunn, Faith Esham, Nathan Gunn, Kevin Short, and Sean McDermott to name a few.
Mezzo-soprano Kathleen Myrick performed a series of solos, duets and other ensembles in German, French, and Italian.  At one point, Myrick appeared barefoot and lay on the stage, using a rose to flirt with those on the front row.  At the end of another aria, she and Hoyt engaged in a passionate kiss.

The Westsider (Bill Zakariasen)
Kathleen Myrick not only had the looks for the part but also most importantly has a very good mezzo-soprano voice which was able to cope with the ravages of the wind.

Kathleen Myrick sang Madellena with a pleasing…mezzo (voice).
Opera News (Albert H. Cohen)
Mezzo-soprano Kathleen Myrick delivered the production’s single best vocal performance in her solo rendition of “Somewhere.”
The Washington Post (John Pitcher)
Soprano Gabriella Pochinki, as the rival gang leader’s naïve sister, Maria, sang with a sweet voice which she seemed to be holding back, belying her extensive opera credentials.  Her restraint was most apparent when mezzo-soprano Kathleen Myrick sang “Somewhere” during the second act dream sequence with full operatic voice.
Port Folio Weekly (B. J. Atkinson)
Kathleen Myrick sings “Somewhere” beautifully…
WHRO-Norfolk (Edgar Leossin)
