Shan Ichiyanagi is one of only twelve masters worldwide of Amezaiku, the Japanese art of candy sculpting. He shapes hot candy into detailed figures in minutes at corporate events and festivals.

Shinobu “Shan” Ichiyanagi, known as The Candyman, has spent over fifty years practicing Amezaiku. He works hot, taffy like candy into exquisite animal figures and objects in a palette of gemstone inspired colors, and he does it fast enough that guests watch the whole thing happen in front of them.
One of Twelve in the World
Shan is among only twelve artists worldwide who have mastered this craft.
Amezaiku has been practiced in Japan for more than a thousand years, originating in the Heian period as candy offerings at temples in Kyoto. That history is part of what makes a live demonstration land differently from a novelty station: guests are watching something genuinely rare rather than something merely clever.
Each sculpture takes only minutes, so a single artist can work a room steadily through an event. The result is both visual and sensory, and it engages guests of every age without needing any explanation to be enjoyed.
